All that “Thou shall not bear false witness” stuff doesn’t count when you are doing it for Jesus*. All the fundies seem to agree on this based on their longstanding track record of fabricating evidence out of whole cloth for whatever their own personal agenda is. :(

*(even though Jesus never said a freakin’ word about abortion anywhere in the bible)

re: #2 ausador

It’s all about a ‘greater truth.’

I recently saw a post on a conservative site about a radio caller in Texas who claimed to be a welfare recipient who had no intention of getting a job because her life (with an able-bodied husband and 2 children) on welfare was so great. The commenters were shocked and saddened etc., bemoaning the state of the nation’s morals with more than one person saying this story just rang so true that the woman had to be telling the truth.
I couldn’t get past the idea of the state of Texas providing generous benefits to a family with 2 able bodied adults who just didn’t feel like working. It seemed, shall we say, unlikely.

Indeed, the next day it came out that the “woman on welfare” was someone who had briefly been on public assistance, but was now off and was telling her version of what she thought other welfare recipients thought.

Need I say that the comments didn’t change much? ‘Oh well, she still knows what it’s like.’ ‘She either lied in her first call or is lying now, so we still don’t know.’
